When Pacing and Planning Doesn’t Work for Me

This session will briefly cover what pacing and planning are and why they can help with managing pain, before exploring why it can be especially challenging for some people to move out of the boom and bust cycle of activity. We will discuss structural and systemic barriers, as well as neurodiversity, and explore practical strategies and new ways of understanding pain.

Individuals who experience overwhelm, challenges with organization, executive dysfunction, or sensory sensitivity, including those with diagnosed or suspected complex PTSD (cPTSD), ADHD, autism, OCD, brain injury, or mild cognitive impairment, may especially benefit from this session. All are welcome to attend.

It is recommended that you are familiar with common pacing and planning strategies before attending this session. If you are not, we suggest starting with our Energy, Pain and Pacing series, as you will likely get more out of this session with that foundation. This series will be offered again in the fall.

This session is led by Andrea Palichuk (physiotherapist) & Dr. Noah Alexander.
