Goal Setting & Values: Moving Toward What Matters in Pain Recovery

Goal Setting & Values: Moving Toward What Matters in Pain Recovery

Living with pain can make it difficult to stay active and engaged in daily life, often leading to cycles of avoidance, frustration, and reduced confidence. This class focuses on how evidence-based strategies can help you reconnect with what matters and take meaningful, achievable steps forward.

We’ll explore how values and goal setting work together to support recovery. Values help guide where you want to go, while structured goal setting provides the steps to get there.

You’ll learn how to identify what is most important to you and translate those values into realistic, flexible goals that fit your current abilities. We’ll also look at how barriers can interfere with follow-through and how to respond to these effectively.

In this class, you will learn how to:

  • Clarify personal values to guide meaningful action

  • Set specific, achievable, and flexible goals

  • Break goals into manageable steps

  • Respond to common barriers

This session is led by Shubhi Sharma (occupational therapist) & Dr. Noah Alexander.
